Getting Student Log-In Cards

Our system automatically emails teachers a copy of student usernames and passwords.

Please search your inbox for an email from do-not-reply@readtheory.org. Don’t forget to check your spam and promotions folders, just in case! 💌

To resend login cards, you'll need to reset your student’s password.

Resetting Passwords

Teachers can reset student passwords anytime—this also resends login cards via email.

1. Go to your "My Students" page.

Important Notes & Troubleshooting Tips

Here are a few quick reminders and helpful tips to keep your login experience smooth:

  • Using SSO (Google, Microsoft, Clever, Classlink)?
If you’re having trouble logging in with Single Sign-On, try switching to the regular username and password fields instead.

  • Username Already Taken?
Usernames must be unique across ReadTheory. If a student’s preferred name is taken, try using a school email or a format like FirstName_LastName_Year.

  • Student Already Has an Account?
You won’t be able to manually add existing accounts or upload them via CSV. Instead, ask the student to join your class using a class code or your teacher email. Check out how they can connect to your class here.

  • Seeing an Error Code?
Take a quick screenshot and send it to us via the support chat in the bottom right corner 💬 — we’ll help troubleshoot or escalate to our tech team if needed.
