Why This Happens

Account type mix-ups usually happen for one of a few reasons: you or a student, selected the wrong option ("Teacher" vs. "Student"), a Parent needs to manage multiple children and needs a Teacher account, etc. 

Account type isn't something you can change yourself from your account settings today, but our team can fix it quickly once we have a few details.

If You Have a Teacher Account But Need a Student Account

Student accidentally created a teacher account? No problem, we can easily convert the account.

Email support@readtheory.org with:

  1. The email address on the incorrect account
  2. The username, if known
  3. Your teacher's class code or email, if you're joining a class

✅ Copy this into your email and fill it in:

Please convert this account from a teacher account to a student account.

Email on the account:

Username (if known):

Class code or Class name of where the student needs to be added:

If You Have a Student Account But Need a Teacher Account

Accidentally created a student account, but need a teacher account? 

Unfortunately, we can not convert a student to a teacher account. We will need to permanently delete the student account first, and then you can sign up as a teacher 

Email support@readtheory.org with:

  1. The email address on the incorrect account
  2. The username, if known

✅ Copy this into your email and fill it in:

Please delete the following student account so that I can create a teacher account.

Email on the account:

Username (if known):

If You Have a Parent Account but Need a Teacher Account

A Parent account is used to manage one student. If you need to manage more than one student, or want to view detailed data for students, we recommend a teacher account.

Unfortunately, we can not convert the account. We will need to permanently delete the parent account first, and then you can sign up as a teacher. 

Email support@readtheory.org with:

  1. The email address on the incorrect account
  2. The username, if known
  3. Confirmation of keeping the data associated with the current parent account.

✅ Copy this into your email and fill it in:

I am a parent but want to create a teacher account.

Email on the account:

Username (if known):

Do you want to keep the data associated with the parent account?
