Where can I find student passwords?

Find out how to access student usernames, resend login cards, or reset passwords if they’re missing.

For security reasons, student passwords are not visible from your dashboard. However, there are a few ways to access or reset student login information.

When Student Accounts Are Created by the Teacher

When you create student accounts for the first time, login cards are automatically emailed to you from:

do-not-reply@readtheory.org

These login cards include each student’s:

  • Username

  • Password

Important:

  • Login cards are sometimes delivered to junk or spam folders, so be sure to check there if you do not see the email.

  • We strongly recommend downloading and saving the login cards to your computer for future reference.

  • Any time you reset or change a student’s password, new login cards are automatically emailed to you.

If You Cannot Find the Login Cards

If you are unable to locate the original login cards, or if a student needs their password reset, you can resend them directly from your dashboard.

To Resend Login Cards:

  1. Go to the My Students page.

  2. Select the student(s).

  3. Click Reset Password.

  4. Choose either:

    • A temporary password (leave the box checked for “Ask for new password at next sign in”), or

    • A permanent password (uncheck the box).

Once completed, new login cards will automatically be emailed to you.

If Students Created Their Own Accounts

If students created their own accounts and then linked to your class:

  • No login card will be sent.

  • You will not receive their password information.

  • If needed, you can still reset their password using the steps above.
