## Where AI Shows Up in ReadTheory, What It Does, and What It Doesn't 🤖

### Where We Use AI
AI helps with teacher-facing work in ReadTheory: generating practice content, summarizing results, and answering support questions. It works from what you choose and from results ReadTheory has already calculated. Wherever AI is involved, it's marked so you can see it.
Our [Privacy Policy](https://readtheory.org/privacy-policy/) lists the specific features that use AI and what data each one uses.

### Where We Don't Use AI
Your students' results and reading levels are measured by ReadTheory's own benchmark engine. AI only writes the summary and the suggestions you see.
AI also doesn't decide what students see next. That's ReadTheory's own adaptive engine, which follows rules we built ourselves.
**Students never interact with AI in ReadTheory.** There's no chatbot and no prompt box in the student experience.

### What Data AI Uses
AI never sees your students' names or usernames, and nothing from ReadTheory is used to train AI models.

### What AI Gets Wrong
AI can produce content that's inaccurate, off-level, or just not very good. Please read anything it generates before you act on it or give it to students.
You'll always know when you're looking at AI. We mark AI-generated content wherever it appears, with a note that it may not always be right and is worth a read-through before you use it.

### You Stay in Control
You decide when to use these features. Nothing generates on its own. Anything the worksheet generator produces is yours to edit, regenerate, or throw away before a student ever sees it. Benchmark insights are suggestions to consider, not instructions to follow.
If AI gives you something inappropriate, biased, or wrong, tell us. On benchmark insights, you can use the thumbs up or thumbs down buttons on each panel, and you can always email us at [support@readtheory.org](mailto:support@readtheory.org).
